Madilyn graduated from preschool today from Sweetwater Baptist Mother’s Day Out and VPK. We’re so proud of all that she’s learned and all the sweet friendships she’s made.
We’ve enjoyed our first days with Ellenor. We’ve had family and friends visit, lots of good food and a little drama. I developed preeclampsia a few days after delivery and had to be hospitalized to prevent it from getting worse. I’m doing much better now and look forward to feeling 100% again.
The day before I delivered Jeff was offered a job as an assistant principal at Stratford STEM Magnet School in Nashville, TN. This is a longtime dream come true for us. He accepted the job the day we had the baby and we’re making our plans to find a rental and move at the end of June or beginning of July. I’m looking forward to our new adventure together.
So there’s a lot of changes happening in our lives all at once and we anticipated this. It’s stressful but something I’ve wanted for a long time. It will be bittersweet leaving our family here in Florida but I know we’ll visit each other often.
I don’t think the 23-year-old me who moved to Orlando with nothing more than a car and a few possessions in it would have ever dreamed I’d return home 10 1/2 years later with a wonderful husband and two beautiful daughters. I am blessed!
Announcing the arrival of Ellenor Jewel Davis: May 9, 2012 at 6:08 a.m., 7 lbs 10 oz., 20.5″
Jeff and I arrived at Winnie Palmer Hospital at 4 a.m. for a scheduled C-section. Our good friend from church Patti Snyder works in the OR and was able to be with us the whole time. It was such a comfort to have her there. This being my first section, I was soooo nervous. The IV and epidural were the worst parts – the procedure itself wasn’t bad. I felt no pain or discomfort and hardly any pressure. I went back about 10 to 6 and Ellenor was born at 6:08. I was out of the OR by about 6:40 to recover.
When she was born they pressed her inked feet into Jeff’s scrub. We cut that part out to save. Little feet!
My first look. Speechless.
She was blowing bubbles.
Mimi, Mom, Chris and Madilyn were paged and Jeff was able to show them Ellenor just minutes after she was born before he brought her into recovery with me.
Many more pictures and memories to come … We feel so blessed that everything went so smoothly and that our baby is healthy and well. Thank you for your prayers, well wishes and support!
Pam (Jeff’s sis), Corrie (our friend), Ginger (mom-in-law) and Alison (sis-in-law) threw me a wonderfully fun baby shower at Pam’s house a couple of weeks ago for close friends and family. It was both an honor and a really fun time. The food was perfect, the decorations beautiful and fun and the company full of my favorite people. Madilyn came at the tail-end and helped open presents. She got quite a few herself! We feel very blessed by the love, support, encouragement and beautiful gifts. Special thanks to Jaycie and Brooke for their help preparing for the party, and to John and Brock for all the hard work they put into beautifying the landscaping and house for the special occasion!
Here are some lovely photos that Alison took at the baby shower April 21.
I had such a good time and appreciate everything everyone did to make our day special. Won’t be long now until we meet the guest of honor!
